NEC Corp has developed generative artificial intelligence (AI) called "NEC Generative AI Service" that can be customized for each customer to adapt to their specific needs. The AI service includes licenses for proprietary large language models, dedicated hardware, software, and consulting services. NEC is also launching the "NEC Generative AI Advanced Customer Program" to support customers in creating models and utilizing the language models effectively. The company aims to achieve sales of 50 billion yen in the next three years from these generative AI-related businesses. NEC has already seen positive results internally, such as a significant reduction in man-hours required for internal system development and document creation.

According to a recent IBM study, productivity has become a top priority for CEOs worldwide as technology modernization becomes essential for achieving their productivity goals. This shift in priorities for small businesses from major global corporations highlights the increasing importance of embracing advanced technologies, such as generative Artificial Intelligence (AI). The IBM Institute for Business Value’s annual CEO study, “CEO decision-making in the age of AI, Act with intention,” reveals that almost half of the CEOs surveyed cite productivity as their highest business priority, up from sixth place in 2022. Technology modernization follows as their second highest priority.
